Nelya Coomans
Executive Director
Nelya Coomans is a lyric soprano studying Vocal Performance and Music Education at California State University, Northridge. Raised in British Columbia, Canada, her passion for music and performance brought her to the University of Utah, where she studied Vocal Performance under Julie Wright-Costa. Ms. Coomans has been cast in numerous musicals, plays, and operas. Some of her most notable roles include Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, Gertrude in Seussical, and Diana in Anne of Green Gables. She was also awarded “Best Classical Performance” and “Best Comedic Performance” through the Royal Conservatory of Music Vocal Festival for three consecutive years.
Ms. Coomans’ love for music and the arts is not only showcased through her performances, but also through her administrative contributions to Mission Opera. Ms. Coomans is grateful to be a part of the Mission Opera family and hopes to continue serving her community by bringing high quality opera and music to the community members, as well as helping to shape the future of Mission Opera and aid in its success.
