Mr. Freddy Lee was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and started piano at the age of 4 under the tutelage of his mother. Upon completion of MTAC’s Certificate of Merit level 10 Advanced exam as a high school freshman he continued onto the program’s Advanced Panel for his remaining three years – where he had the opportunity to study with the late Byron Janis, protégé of the legendary Vladimir Horowitz.
As a piano performance major, Freddy was accepted into some of America’s top universities for music including USC, UCLA, Boston University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Rice University in Houston, TX which he chose to attend, studying with Dr. Robert Roux and graduating in 2017.
Freddy worked in music marketing and event production until the pandemic brought the industry to a halt, upon which he returned home to the Valley and has been teaching ever since. Freddy is also involved with several choirs and chamber ensembles across Los Angeles County as a piano accompanist and coach. He is currently attending Cal State Northridge to obtain his Master’s degree in music.
Over the past 15 years, Freddy’s musical prowess has allowed him to tour and perform abroad in Europe and Asia. In the U.S., Freddy has performed at venues such as the David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center New York, the Music Center at Strathmore in Maryland, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Aside from piano, Freddy has over a decade of experience learning and playing the violin, trumpet, drums and percussion in a plethora of settings and applications; from the quintessential string quartet to the full symphony orchestra, jazz and marching band.
